  • That I May Know Him

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Philippians 3:10

It should be the desire of every Christian to know Jesus better today than we did yesterday. It is possible for us to know Him better. It is even predestined according to Romans 8:29. It is possible for us to know the power of His resurrection, the fellowship of His suffering and to be made conformable to His death. There is nothing promised in God’s word for believers that cannot become a reality in our lives. God has given us some wonderful things that lead us to know Him.

He has given us the Bible. He did not say “many” Bibles but “My Word.” Psalms 138:2 says, “for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Philippians 2:9 says, “and given Him a name which is above every name.” His name is above every name and His word is above His name. God has given us His precious Word that we may know Him.

He has given us His Church. Matthew 16:18 says, “Upon this rock I will build “MY” church. Worship is our first obligation. We forsake not the assembling together at church for the purpose of worship. What we know as church and worship today is a far cry from what God intended church and worship to be in our lives. For saved people going to the house of God for the purpose of worship should be one of the most important things that we do.

He has given us the gospel. The gospel according to I Corinthians 15:1-4 is the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The great commission for the Christian is to spread that gospel to a lost and dying world. By receiving the gospel men received the salvation that God has provided through His Son. God has given us the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 1:21 says, “for He shall save His people from their sins.”

Every provision has been made for us to know Him personally and in saving grace and for us to live in Him a life that would bring blessing to us and honor to Him.
